Simon has great instincts, a strong sense of visual storytelling and a keen eye editorially. He is well versed in verité filmmaking but experienced enough to never lose sight of the overall narrative. Once he commits to a project, he will go to the ends of the earth to make sure no story threads are left unexplored.

Simon is a terrific human and a wonderful collaborator and I would work with him again in a heart beat.

Bow River Films was set up in 2015 by Simon Tucker, a BAFTA, Rose d’Or and RTS award-winning filmmaker with 30 years' experience Directing, Producing and Executive Producing factual series, one-off documentaries and finely crafted brand films and commercials.

For the last ten years, Simon has been focusing on feature documentaries, combining his passion for telling intimate, character-driven stories with his vast wealth of knowledge across multiple genres to create compelling films with cinematic ambition. He is particularly inspired by the world of adventure and extreme sport, which has brought him most recently to collaborating with 2 x Oscar winning Producer John Battsek at Ventureland.

Between 2005 and 2014, Simon founded and ran Mir Productions, the first independent production company in Russia. As Creative Director, he oversaw local versions of Top Gear, MasterChef, Dragons Den, Next Top Model, Faking It and Come Dine With Me, producing over 350 hours of programming annually. Simon negotiated an exclusive first look deal with BBC Worldwide and sold a 25% stake in Mir to John de Mol’s Talpa (The Voice).

Simon began his career on National Geographic's Voyager series before going to on to deliver premium shows for Discovery Plus, Amazon Prime, Channel 4, Sky and ITV. He has developed and produced cult factual series such as Lad's Army for ITV, Bring Back.... for Channel 4 and produced the premiere seasons of the world’s biggest formats from I’m A Celebrity to Survivor and Pop IdolHe's also had the pleasure to work with A-list onscreen talent including George Clooney, Carrie Fisher, Ant & Dec and Simon Cowell.

Simon's career has taken him to more than 60 countries, including some of the most extreme environments on the planet.

Simon worked with me as Exec on Lost Mines,  challenging series to make with fast reactions required to an evolving story in a very remote part of Alaska. Simon had to manage a large editorial and production team both on location and in the edit and also be Network facing. He was organised, strong editorially and managed the teams extremely well.

The truth is that Simon can turn his hand to Execing large scale series but his heart lies in feature doc, especially if they are based around extreme adventure, where subjects are taken beyond boundaries and especially if the drama takes place on a freezing cold and super challenging mountain.
